Feb 24, BenTen.Market orders are intended to buy or sell a specified quantity of contracts or shares at the next available market price. Proceed with order confirmation. A stop order will not guarantee an execution at or near the activation price. Once activated, they compete with other incoming market orders. With a stop limit order, you risk missing the market altogether. In a fast-moving market, it might be impossible to execute an order at the stop-limit price or better, so you might not have the protection you sought.
An OCO One Cancels Other order is a compound operation where an order, once filled, cancels execution of another order.
It may be used as the triggered order in a First Triggers so that when the first order fills, both OCO orders become working; when either of the latter is filled, the other is canceled. When you add an order in Active Trader and it starts working, it is displayed as a bubble in the ladder. Bubbles indicate order price, trade direction, and quantity - and they can also be used for order editing or cancelation.
Dragging a bubble along the ladder will change the price, so when you drag-and-drop, you will see another order confirmation dialog unless Auto send option is enabled, which we recommend to avoid. Once you confirm and send, the bubble will take its new place and the order will start working with this new price.
All of the above may be especially useful for 1st triggers and 1st triggers OCO orders. Dragging the first working order along the ladder will also re-position the orders to be triggered so that they maintain their offset.
Note that dragging the bubble of an order waiting for trigger will not re-position the bubble of the working order: this will only change the offset between them. Canceling an order waiting for trigger will not cancel the working order. The Active Trader Ladder is a real-time data table that displays bid, ask, and volume data for the current symbol based on a price breakdown.
By default, the following columns are available in this table:. Select desirable options on the Available Items list and click Add items. Additional items, which may be added, include:.
Introduction to ThinkScript Vol. I, II & III
Hint : consider including values of technical indicators to the Active Trader ladder view:. Above the table, you can see the Position Summarya customizable panel that displays important details of your current position. To customize the Position Summaryclick Show actions menu and choose Customize The Customize position summary panel dialog will appear. You can also remove unnecessary metrics by selecting them on the Current Set list and then clicking Remove Items.

You are even able to combine many technical indicators in one by referencing them in your code or just using functions that represent the most popular studies such as simple or exponential moving average. You can find them here. Each tutorial comes with a quiz so you can check your knowledge. How do I learn to script?
Create your own strategies. Strategies are technical analysis tools that, in addition to analyzing data, add simulated orders to the chart so you can backtest your strategy. Strategies can be created the same way as studies, however, they must contain the AddOrder function.
This function defines what kind of simulated order should be added on what condition. Create your own watchlist columns. More on Custom Quotes: here. Create alerts. Thanks for making all of this available.
Thanks for all the TOS goodies I find myself constantly coming back for more enlightenment Great resource! I came across this blog when I am looking for a way to insert a Symbol using thinkscript to an existing watchlist in TOS. I setup some auto scans using thinkscripts. Will appreciate any help. I'm not aware of that capability. You can send an email to support thinkorswim. I don't think TOS has it. I found a custom made somewhere but it's gone from my studies : highly appreciate it!
Mostly YTD doesn't give even a near ball park number from reality and it varies when you change the date range. Isn't that number supposed not to change when you change the period for the chart?
Any ideas? Vectorvest has the Relative timing formula. I'm not sure how to do this in TOS. May I have permission to use some of these to sell on my website? I really like a couple : I understand if not.
I mark the high and low of the opening first 15 minutes of trading, with vertical lines. Very time consuming if I am looking at multiple names. I would love to build a study that does this. Any suggestions? How to Scan for Buy / Sell Signals in ThinkorSwim - Stock Scanner
Any chance you have the raw code or a different link? Thank you!! Try this I created a page for it. For my screen nothing really happens, is it saved somewhere? I see how to import them into ToS, but how do I find it afterwards? I've looked all through the studies, but can't find it.
This is awesome. I setup my charts for Ichimoku based on your scripts. I have loaded the script and from there not sure what to do? Hello, I added some of the custom columns using your scripts. ToS support has not been helpfulBut there are also a lot of good free thinkScripts out there that do useful things too.
But I wanted to provide a good one-stop resource for people looking for free thinkorswim resourcescustom quote columns, scanners, chart studies, technical indicators, and strategies for the thinkorswim platform, and this list should definitely do that for you!
Then edit the filters and add any extra filters, and select watchlist of symbols with liquid options top left Scan In. Now click on top right menu icon and Save Query to save your changes. Thanks for compiling this information. Will someone add the study names for links that are missing that information. Thank you. I found the custom scanner, below, that might get me to where I need to go, but it was scripted for Stockfetcher.
Feel free to send me an email on the contact page and we can discuss doing this as a custom project if you like. Does something like that exist? It says an application is needed to open the link. Is there any study that might show how this is done?
Just wanted to clarify that I am looking to find a bullish stochastic scan using the Fast Stochastic. Thank you for your hard work in compiling this fantastic archive of ToS Scripts. This is absolutely awesome. I like trading those but have to map them out manually on different time frames. Thank you for your generous work. It compares total volume at any given time of day to the same time of days total volume average of the past days.
At the final result should be a percentage that shows todays volume as a percentage of the day moving average. Would you be able to help? Do you have a scanner that shows which stocks are in the process of crossing over the vwap either from lower price to higher, or vice versa in the 5 minute chart? Luckily, there are links and databases of scanner that people have made and share. Minimum computer knowledge is needed. Here is a comprehensive list of scanners and scripts.
He has some custom scripts for sell, but he also links to dozens of free scripts that others wrote. Deborah Fine. Josiah Redding. Todd R Gray. Thanks, Todd. Do you know who made it or uses it? I figured out how to do it. Anyone have a bullish stochastic divergence scan? Fantastic resource!
Thanks, Josiah. Never heard of it, what does it do? Rich W. Sincerely, Rich W. Astor, FL.The Thinkorswim Bid-Ask Spread indicator helps you avoid stocks that are too spready. It plots the bid, ask, and last price on any intraday chart, and the last price is colored to show if it happened at the bid, ask, or in between.
The column shows the current spread for all stocks in your list and warns you when the spread is too wide. Spike traders, spike faders, early morning gap traders, and many others, all need the ability to find low float runners. Basically to trade in harmony with the larger forces that are at play.
To accomplish this, I use multiple timeframe moving averages. The Pre-market High Low Range indicator for ThinkOrSwim does just what you would assume: it plots the premarket high and low as lines on your chart, both during the pre market hours and the regular trading hours of the day. You can add the OHLC levels for the prior day, prior week, prior month, etc. You can also add the levels for the current day, week, month, etc.
All in all, a very useful indicator for keeping track of important support and resistance levels!
